THE POWER POSITION

You are probably asking yourself what the heck a power position is. Among the advice wise older people in some countries give their grandchildren or great-grandchildren is to communicate to the heart. This is the same method a higher power uses. Communicating to a person’s heart instead of their mind is far more effective and easy for people to understand. This is why a higher power is never frustrated with people, because the higher power knows the message will get to where the higher power wants it to go and that the listener will understand and learn from it. A power position is putting yourself in a position of power in your endeavours, whether in your love life or elsewhere. It is vital in helping you know when a person or your date has your best interests at heart. Furthermore, it will help you distinguish between people who genuinely care about you and those who are using you. It will help you identify people who profess to love you, but are actually with you to injure you by telling you what you want to hear so that you will give them what they want.

Suppose a person tells you he or she loves you. Are you certain that you are not just being told what you want to hear? In all honesty, too many people use the word “love” as if they know a lot about it. This chapter contains all the secrets you need to know to avoid being used, cheated on, and lied to. If you want to have total control when you are out on a date, this chapter will show you how to do it. This is one of my most powerful pieces of dating advice; however, as always, it will only work for you if you do your part.

Let me begin with a story about a cat and a tiger, which my great-grandmother shared with all her grandchildren when she was still alive. A cat and a tiger became friends. Every day the two friends went hunting together. The cat caught his prey with much ease compared to the tiger. The tiger couldn’t understand why. He was bigger, yet lacked superior hunting skills. He wanted to be a great hunter just like the cat, so the tiger asked the cat if he would teach him how to be a great hunter as well. The cat, being a good friend, agreed, and taught the tiger how to hunt as he did. While the cat was teaching the tiger how to be an efficient hunter, the cat purposely left out one hunting secret.

One day the two friends found themselves in a drought. Days went by without them eating or drinking. On one of their hunting outings, the tiger became so hungry that he asked the cat to take the lead. The tiger asked this for a reason. As they made their patrol in the jungle, the tiger told the cat that he was going to kill him and eat him so that he would not die of starvation. The tiger assumed that because he was bigger than the cat he would have his way. The tiger began to chase the cat. The cat knew that he could not outrun the tiger, so as soon as the tiger got close to the cat and reached out to claw him, the cat did a back flip and ended up behind the tiger. By the time the tiger stopped and turned to chase him, the cat had run up a tree so the tiger could not make a meal out of him. The cat was able to prevent the tiger from killing him because the cat was in a power position. The cat’s power position resulted from not giving the tiger the most vital of his hunting and escaping techniques, which was the somersault. When the tiger wanted to kill the cat, the somersault saved him.

I shared this story with a 65-year-old female cook who was concerned that a young male cook was trying to push her out of her job so he could take over her position. Within one month this woman came to my office and told me that when she applied the story of the cat and the tiger to her work, she came out on top. The older woman told me the cat and tiger story worked miracles for her because she realized that she was in a power position to the much younger cook. How did the woman go about using the cat and the tiger story to prevent being pushed into early retirement from the company where she had worked for 25 years? She... When the woman came to see me with her concern, I suggested that she not teach...

The power position is about putting yourself in a position of power when you begin to date and become involved in a relationship: a position where... Unless you willingly allow people... there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to take your power from you.
